I don’t know about you, but I miss long-form content. Writing it, consuming it… I used to love sending my monthly newsletter in the pre-Substack days. If you’re receiving this, it’s because you used to be on that mailing list. If it no longer suits you to receive this, please feel free to unsubscribe. I know that every woman and their dog (literally) has a Substack these days, and inboxes get cluttered. Not only will I not be offended, but I’m doing the same thing myself: digital detox is a form of self-care!
So, let’s get to the point. I’m an information magpie. I read voraciously and constantly find myself jotting down notes of things to Google, restaurants to research, and topics to deep dive into. My Notes app is bursting with one-liner entries like “Godt Brød Oslo” and “look into nootropics?” I carry a pen wherever I go because I remain a pen-to-paper girl, and more often than not, I come home from an evening out with a cocktail napkin or coaster full of recommendations from friends, colleagues, and cool girls over post-work martinis. So consider this just that: an accumulation of the best things I’ve seen, heard, tried, and learned about each month — a curated collection of my Notes app, scraps of paper, and recent search history that I hope you’ll find interesting, too.
This was a great read, encapsulating a sentiment I’ve felt but not been able to articulate for so long.
I hope to see this exhibit when I visit Paris next month.
Speaking of exhibits, I’m not especially well-versed (or, honestly, interested) in Canadian art, but I recently came across abstract artist Jack Bush and was pleasantly surprised to discover some homegrown talent that aligns with my love of colour-field painting (you’ll recognize Rothko as the most prominent artist of the movement). This exhibit in Vancouver looks fantastic and I hope to see it before it closes.
I sadly missed this launch event while confined to my deathbed last week, but I am so intrigued about the Dill Pickle Seltzer.
Were we all aware that Hermès makes an eyelash curler?
Saw this package a little too late, but I now know what I want my Valentine’s Day plans to look like next year.
For my farfalle fans.
I recently got back from Palm Beach. Some of my top finds can be found in this post but a Substack guide about the island is coming to your inbox. I truly believe that the Palm Beach area has some of the best thrifting in the world — see my TikTok highlighting a few favourites, but this truly barely scratches the surface.
YSL sent me a few blushes that made me realize I had (wrongly) convinced myself that I prefer cream blushes because these have rocked my world. A powder blush can be… creamy? Who knew? They also feature a colour payoff I did not anticipate and learned the hard way by stamping my brush three times before first swipe. OOF — instant sunburn cheeks. Good thing they’re so blendable.
Mark Your Calendars: Violette_FR is launching in Sephora Canada on March 24
Introducing my current lunch hyperfixation, paired with some coconut yogurt. Already preordered March’s flavour.
Like so many, opening my Sofia Coppola day planner was one of the highlights of my new year. It sold out globally at record speed, but I was able to get my hands on one through an independent bookseller in Germany. If you’d like to avoid missing out on the 2026 version, I just preordered mine here — an excellent option for Canadians. You can also pre-order directly from the publisher.
The trend cycle has gotten out of hand. Consider this a PSA for my minimalist Totême, The Row, Lemaire-wearing girlies: You do not need the Juju Vera Shell Pendant. I know it seems like all of the internet cool girls are wearing it, but I promise you, it will be next season’s played-out High Sport Kick Pants or Totême Sweater. Instead of the trending splurge, why not spend some time getting lost in Etsy listings in search of something vintage? You’ll find unique-to-you items (a 5-minute search came up with finds like this, this, and this) in a similar vein searching terms like “abstract silver pendant” or “modernist oversized pendant”.
We are heading to Anguilla to celebrate my husband’s Big Birthday in May (recommendations welcome!). While researching the island, I came across this article which was an absolute delight. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of the AI boom?
All for now — back next with a detailed Palm Beach Dispatch, some Paris packing plans, and a series I’m thinking of calling carte blanche.
More soon,
x E
